About Single Word Reader

Overview

Single Word Reader is a browser-based focus reader for pasted text. It shows text one word, phrase, or sentence at a time so readers can keep their eyes on one stable point.

Who it is for

The tool is for people who find dense paragraphs tiring, lose their place while reading, or prefer a calmer reading surface. That may include some dyslexic readers, ADHD readers, low-vision readers, students, and anyone reading long text on a small screen.

What it does

  • Displays pasted text as single words, phrase chunks, or sentence steps.
  • Lets you adjust speed, font size, spacing, font style, and color theme.
  • Adds small pauses after punctuation so reading does not feel mechanical.
  • Runs locally in the browser without uploading pasted text.

Careful accessibility wording

Single Word Reader is a reading aid, not a medical product. It does not diagnose, treat, or cure dyslexia. The goal is to offer a simple way to reduce visual clutter and support focus while reading.

Technology

  • Next.js for the web app framework.
  • React for the interactive reader.
  • Tailwind CSS for styling and responsive layout.
  • Client-side tokenization for private text processing.
